Philadelphia Couple’s Surprise Engagement Adds Even More Joy to Eagles’ Super Bowl Win

A surprise engagement made the Eagles’ Super Bowl win even more special for Philadelphia couple: Collin Thomas and Aida Antonetti.

A surprise engagement made the Eagles’ Super Bowl win even more special for one Philadelphia couple, writes Kimberlee Speakman for People.

Right after the Birds won the big game, Eagles fan Collin Thomas pulled out a ring and proposed to his longtime girlfriend Aida Antonetti at Reale’s Restaurant & Bar in Northeast Philadelphia.

“She thought they were cheering because the Eagles won the Super Bowl,” said Thomas. “But when she turned around, that’s when I popped the question.”

Antonetti was stunned as she did not expect the big surprise. She noted she was also speechless for a minute or two in the immediate aftermath.

The bride-to-be said “yes” and kissed her future husband to more cheers from the crowd.

Thomas even joked that his new fiancé got her ring before the Cowboys.

The couple met 11 months ago. At the time, Antonetti was not a football fan, but that soon changed. Now, they watch all of the Eagles games together. They also plan to continue their celebration through Valentine’s Day, which coincides with the Eagles parade.

“We’re determined to go,” said Antonetti. “I don’t care how early we have to get up!”
