Comcast Fights Back to Keep Internet Customers with New Guarantees and Perks

Philadelphia-based Comcast has been exploring ways to reverse its internet customer exodus, which includes price guarantees and a free mobile line, writes Lizzy McLellan Ravitch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

For years, Comcast has been losing more cable customers than it has been adding, and more recently, it has also started losing broadband internet customers. The company is taking this trend seriously and has set in motion several new strategies to win back consumers.

For broadband and mobile customers, the company has introduced a nationwide pricing framework, five-year fixed rates, a no-cost mobile line for a full year, and unlimited data allowances for mobile service.

Comcast also simplified its sales process to reduce the number of steps required to purchase products and leverages Google AI to manage customer interactions.

The changes have already resulted in “more than a 20 percent improvement in purchase conversion rates,” said Comcast president Mike Cavanagh last month in a quarterly earnings call.

Despite customer losses last quarter, leaders at Comcast remains optimistic about the future of the company’s internet business.

“Our goal for all the actions we’ve taken is to build a loyal customer base that churns less and values our services more,” said Cavanagh.
