Tipsy Scoop, the New York-based brand known for its liquor-infused ice cream, will be opening its first Philadelphia location, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Its Philadelphia expansion is a result of a new partnership with local distillery, Botld.
The new hybrid bar/ice cream parlor, which Tipsy Scoop dubs as “barlours,” will open at Botld’s Rittenhouse Square space on May 9.
Andrew Auwerda, Botld’s founder said he is excited to be partnering with “a like minded entrepreneurial company” like Tipsy Scoop.
The company, founded in 2014, creates cocktail-inspired ice cream and sorbet infused with alcohol. Its treats go up to 5 percent alcohol-by-volume.
However, there are also non-alcoholic drinks and desserts available for purchase.
The new Philly “barlour” will serve ice cream scoops, sundaes, flights, desserts, cocktails, and more.
One particular dessert is called the Philly Phreeze, and it’s a water-ice inspired sundae with mango margarita and spiked raspberry lemonade sorbet served in a souvenir glass.
“Philadelphia has been at the top of our expansion list since we opened our first Barlour in 2017 in NYC,” Tipsy Scoop founder and owner Melissa Tavss said in a statement.
Tipsy Scoop has nine locations across the United States and the Bahamas.
