With summer heat arriving, nothing beats cooling off with delicious ice cream or gelato, and two Bucks County spots have some of the best in the region, according to Michael Klein at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Owowcow Creamery opened 16 years ago in Ottsville. It was launched by John Fezzuoglio, a New York graphic artist who took Penn State’s ice cream course and decided to start churning.
Today, Fezzuoglio operates five locations, each offering 24 flavors—12 regular and 12 seasonal—as well as options for dogs. The menu includes vegan and dairy-free sorbets, with local favorites like cashew caramel, sweet honey cream and “I Hate Chocolate.”
Tanner Brothers Dairy creates rich, flavorful ice cream using fruit from its longtime farm in Ivyland. The business’s low-slung supermarket, largely unchanged over the last four decades, has around 30 flavors.
Some of their most popular flavors include creative twists on classics like cherry, cherry vanilla, and cherry chocolate chip, as well as peanut butter cup, peanut butter ripple and peanut butter brownie. Its bestseller is the Graham Slam, topped with graham crackers and chocolate marshmallow.
