Iron Hill Brewery is planning to reopen its Center City location, among five others, less than a year after abruptly shutting down all its operations, writes Michaela Althouse for PhillyVoice.
While there is no official reopening date, due to its dependency on the permitting process, it is expected to reopen by mid-April.
The four other locations in Lancaster, Hersey, Huntingdon Valley, and Wilmington, Delaware, will be opening this summer.
“Iron Hill was built on a simple promise: scratch-made food, craft beer, and elevated service in a casual, welcoming atmosphere,” Iron Hill co-founder Mark Edelson said. “The team and I are honored to bring that promise back to many of the communities that made Iron Hill home.”
Iron Hill’s first location opened in Newark, Delaware, in 1996. It eventually grew to well over a dozen restaurants over the years. While most were in the Philadelphia region, there were locations as far as Georgia and South Carolina.
Iron Hill began closing locations in October 2024 before filing for bankruptcy the following year.
While the closures last year were abrupt, the owners maintained hopeful about their plans to reopen eventually.
The locations set to reopen all have leases reassigned to a new owner.
