A major mixed-use development will add hundreds of apartments to a key stretch of Ardmore, writes Paul Schwedelson for The Philadelphia Business Journal
Radnor Property Group will begin construction in January on The Piazza at Ardmore, a $187 million project at 100 W. Lancaster Ave. The development will include 270 apartments, about 30,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, and a 480-space parking garage, with more than 100 spaces reserved for public use.
The development is located along Lancaster Avenue between Greenfield and Ardmore avenues. It sits roughly a quarter-mile from Suburban Square, Ardmore Music Hall, and the Ardmore train station. Developers say the site’s proximity to transit and entertainment makes it ideal for high-density housing. The goal was emphasized in Montgomery County’s comprehensive planning efforts.
The Piazza at Ardmore will replace an Acura dealership and a former IHOP, both of which will be demolished. The dealership will relocate. Plans also include sidewalk enhancements, intersection improvements, and a new median along Lancaster Avenue to improve pedestrian safety and the retail experience.
The residential mix will skew toward one- and two-bedroom units. Residents can expect amenities such as a fitness center, coworking space, outdoor pool, and courtyard. Construction is expected to wrap up in early 2028.
