See Where Gritty Ranks in Annual Salary Among NHL, Professional Sports Mascots

Gritty is on the list of the top 10 highest-paid mascots in professional sports today, and where he ranks may surprise you.

A new analysis of the highest-paid mascots last year has been released and Gritty, the Philadelphia Flyers mascot, made a pretty penny in 2025, writes Isaac Avilucea for AXIOS Philadelphia.

According to the analysis, Gritty makes nearly $250,000 annually, which places him as the highest-paid mascot in the NHL by a mile.

This is despite being among the newest mascots in the NHL, having only been introduced in 2018.

His salary puts him nearly on par with Josh Shapiro, who is the highest-paid governor in the nation.

While Gritty’s salary is the highest in the NHL, it pales in comparison to a few others — all of which are NBA mascots.

Atop the list is Rocky the Mountain Lion of the Denver Nuggets, who makes about $625,000. with Harry the Hawk of the Atlanta Hawks is close behind at $600,000. Meanwhile, Benny the Bull of the Chicago Bulls rakes in about $400,000.

The Phillie Phanatic is overall sixth on the list and second in the MLB, at about $200,000.

GamblingSites, an online gambling reviewer, compiled the mascot salary information from media outlets and sports job boards.
