Community College of Philadelphia has ended its months-long nationwide search for a new president, officially promoting Alycia Marshall into the role after her own six-month interim stint, writes Joe Brandt for CBS News Philadelphia.
Marshall will now officially serve as the school’s seventh president, beating out three other finalists for the role.
The school announced it selected Marshall for her outstanding leadership, demonstrated commitment to student success, and commitment to CCP’s mission.
Marshall is no stranger to CCP, having also previously served as the school’s provost and vice president for academic and student success, respectively.
In a press release, she expressed how honored she is to officially take on this new, permanent role.
“Community College of Philadelphia truly feels like home,” Marshall said. ” While my time as interim president has deepened my connections with the college community and our external partners, it is my foundation as an educator that will continue to guide me. I am deeply honored to serve as president of The City’s College—a beacon of access, opportunity, and transformation—as we move forward together.”
CCP is currently working on a formal inauguration ceremony for Marshall, with the date expected to be announced later this year.
