Community College of Philadelphia has appointed a new interim president more than two weeks after abruptly relieving its former president of his duties, according to a Philadelphia Tribune staff report.
The College’s Board of Trustees has chosen Alycia Marshall to fill the role on an interim basis.
She previously served as provost and vice president for academic and student success.
“I am honored to have been selected by the board for this critical role,” Marshall said in the announcement. “For the last three years, I have served as a member of the college’s leadership team. It is an honor and a responsibility I take very seriously.”
Marshall’s predecessor, Donald Generals, had served 11 years as the school’s president before he was let go on April 10. He was subsequently placed on paid administrative leave.
Under his leadership, CCP expanded various services, created new programs, launched a student-run Saxbys, and much more.
As Marshall fills the president role on an interim basis, the college will also be conducting a nationwide search for a permanent president.
