Comcast Reopens Flagship Lift Zone Facility at OIC in North Philadelphia

Comcast has reopened its flagship Lift Zone at OIC Philadelphia after a $1 million investment towards new technology and more digital access.

Comcast has reopened its flagship Lift Zone facility in North Philadelphia after a more than $1 million investment, write Miguel Martinez-Valle and Brendan Brightman for NBC10 Philadelphia.

The Lift Zone facility at OIC Philadelphia provides technical training programs for individuals looking into careers in new fields, including healthcare, digital media, and green energy.

As a result of the new investments, various renovations have been made, including new technology and free Wi-Fi.

“We feel it helps us to bridge the digital divide,” said Sheila Ireland, president and CEO of OIC Philadelphia. “The community we serve digital access. It’s a real problem, and Comcast investment in OIC Philadelphia helps us move up the dial on the work we’re trying to do.”

Saquanna Daniels, one of the more than 51,000 people who has benefitted from OIC’s training programs, said the new Comcast investment will be a big help to the community.

She credits the program for helping her transform her life and get herself back together again.

The Lift Zone at the OIC is just one of 50 Lift Zones across Philadelphia that Comcast has funded.

This is part of Comcast’s $1 billion “Project Up” commitment to increase internet access and create more opportunities for digital skills trainng.
