During the Philadelphia Eagles‘ week 3 game against the Los Angeles Rams, Jordan Davis played the hero to seal the victory and help maintain the team’s undefeated start to the season, writes Andrew Beaton for The Wall Street Journal.
Davis got through the Rams line managed to get a hand on the ball as Rams kicker Joshua Karty attempted a 44-yard field goal. From there, he was the first to scramble to the loose ball and run it into the endzone to put an exclamation point on the 33-26 win.
The back-to-back plays can be largely credited to his commitment to slimming down during the offseason. He lost 26 pounds ahead of the 2025 season.
Davis’ playing time has been inconsistent during his first three seasons and missing time due to an ankle injury didn’t help matters.
After playing an average of 36 percent of the team’s defensive snaps in his first three seasons, Davis has played in 70 percent during the team’s first three games this year.
“With this new weight, I can do a lot more, I can move a lot more,” he said. “The power never left.”
His 18.6 miles an hour speed for the touchdown run was the fastest for a player at least 330 pounds since 2017.
