ESPN recently released its annual NFL player rankings ahead of the 2025 season, and Jalen Hurts was ranked as the ninth-best quarterback and No. 19 player overall, writes Todd Pendleton and Mike Freeman for USA Today.
Despite leading his team to the ultimate prize — the Super Bowl — and also winning the Super Bowl MVP, Hurts still has to continue fighting for respect.
Beyond his performances during the Eagles’ final two games of the season, Hurts is also on an active streak of four straight seasons with at least 10 rushing touchdowns, which is the most of any quarterback in NFL history.
He’s also among the league’s most accurate passers with a 64.6 percent career completion percentage.
Former Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is in agreement that Hurts is underappreciated.
“He has mastered everything that he has been asked to do,” Westbrook said of Hurts.
In games where star running back Saquon Barkley has had the opposing defense zoned in on stopping him, Hurts has shown his ability to step up with both his throwing and running ability.
“Look at the stats, look at what he’s been able to do. Look at how efficient he is,” Westbrook added. “Most importantly, he’s one of the best leaders in the NFL.”
