Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sen. Vincent Hughes Celebrate 20-Year Wedding Anniversary, Renew Vows On Rocky Steps

Actress Sheryl Lee Ralph and Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes celebrated their 20-year wedding anniversary with a vow renewal atop the Rocky Steps.

Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes and actress Sheryl Lee Ralph are celebrating two decades of wedded bliss, and recently renewed their vows in the City of Brotherly Love, writes Anna Kaufman for USA Today.

While the vow renewal was supposed to be an intimate gathering, roughly 250 guests were in attendance at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

There, Ralph walked up the famous Rocky Steps wearing a shawl with an 80-foot train, Vogue reported.

She climbed about halfway up before being met by Hughes. The two later walked up the remaining steps in tandem all the way to the top, where the ceremony officially started.

After the ceremony, Ralph spoke about what a vow renewal truly means.

“In marriage, we have so many things that happen in life,” she said. “People live. People die. Relationships change. You change. Your partner changes. Your family, your immediate family, your extended family – there are changes in life.”

The couple married in 2005.

During an interview last year, Ralph revealed that the two of them have been able to make it work all these years despite not living together.

While she’s often in Los Angeles, and he’s often in Harrisburg and Philadelphia, they make their long distance relationship work.
