Rita’s Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, founded in Bensalem and headquartered in Trevose, is a beloved dessert spot that’s gotten creative with its real estate, reports Daisha Jones for PHL17.
Since its founding in 1984, the franchise has opened more than 500 locations in the country.
Rita’s often converts old buildings and reimagines them as new stores.
The latest example of this is the new Lindenwold, New Jersey location. The building is a former bank with its own drive-through, perfect for cold or rainy days.
Those with real estate they’re looking to sell can check out Rita’s website to provide information about their property. Chief Development Officer Lawrence Brown noted that former restaurant sites, coffee shops and dry cleaners are the types of spaces that Rita’s typically looks for.
Those interested in opening their own Rita’s location can explore franchising opportunities by visiting the company’s website.
“My favorite part is just getting to know new people and learning about their journey, because this is all about the entrepreneurial spirit and getting to know our new franchisees, that they’re investing in this with their family, making it a family business,” said Brown.
