Part-Owner of Levittown’s WBCB Signs Contract Extension as Eagles Announcer

Merrill Reese signed a multi-year contract extension as the Philadelphia Eagles' radio play-by-play announcer.

At 82, Merrill Reese, a part-owner of WBCB-AM in Levittown, has signed a multi-year contract extension as the Philadelphia Eagles radio play-by-play announcer and has no intention of retiring any time soon, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

“I love to golf, but if it were a choice between broadcasting an Eagles game and playing Augusta [National Golf Club in Georgia], I am broadcasting the Eagles game,” said Reese. “I’m just as nervous before every broadcast. I love it as much as I ever did. And it’s the kind of thing where I said I’d want to do it forever. I just love it so much.”

Before the 2022 season, Reese signed a three-year contract, which expired at the end of last season, when the team captured the Super Bowl title. The announcer quietly inked an extension in the spring to continue calling Eagles games on SportsRadio 94 WIP-FM alongside color analyst Mike Quick, his longtime broadcast partner of nearly three decades.

WIP owner Audacy did not disclose the exact length of Reese’s new contract, but the company confirmed that it is a multiyear extension.

Read more about how Merrill Reese is still going strong after decades behind the mic and why Eagles fans can count on hearing his iconic voice for seasons to come in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
