Philly Sports Legends Mike Quick and Rubén Amaro Jr. Are Professionals in Residence At Rowan Sports CaM Program

Mike Quick and Rubén Amaro Jr. are both long-term Philadelphia sports legends, who will be lecturing students at Rowan University about their careers in the broadcasting and media industry, as part of the university's Sports Communication and Media program.

The ever-growing popular Sports Communication and Media (Sports CaM) program at Rowan University welcomed Philadelphia sports icons Mike Quick and Rubén Amaro Jr. as professionals in residence earlier in the school year, writes Rowan Today.

As part of their involvement, the pair has delivered a series of guest lectures at Rowan for students aspiring to pursue careers in the professional sports communication industry.

While Amaro is a returnee of the program’s lineup, Quick is a newcomer.

“For me, it’s a great way to be able to talk about what it is to be in the sports industry,” said Amaro.

A native Philadelphian, played in the MLB from 1991 to 1998, including two stints with the Philadelphia Phillies

He’s now a color commentator for the Phillies television broadcast.

Quick, on the other hand, played his entire NFL career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 1982 to 1990. In that time, he made two first-team All-Pro teams, went to five Pro Bowl games, and led the NFL in yards in 1983.

He’s also in the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.

He’s spent the past 26 years as a color commentator for the Eagles radio broadcasts on 94 WIP alongside play-by-play analyst Merrill Reese.

“It’s truly been special to share the seat next to Merrill,” said Quick.
