Horsham’s Grupo Bimbo, the world’s largest baking company, marked World Environment Day by showcasing its progress toward ambitious 2030 and 2050 sustainability goals, the company announced in a press release to GlobeNewswire.
Grupo Bimbo’s Nourishing a Better World strategy centers on three pillars: Net Zero Carbon Emissions, Zero Waste, and Regenerative Agriculture. Bimbo aims to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, already operating over 7,757 alternative fuel vehicles. It uses 4,200 electric vehicles, making it the largest electric delivery fleet in Latin America and Mexico.
On the waste front, 94% of its packaging is now recyclable. The goal is 100% recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable by 2025. Eight bakeries and production facilities already send zero waste to landfills.
Its regenerative agriculture practices now span nearly 300,000 hectares, with a long-term goal to source all key ingredients from regenerative farmland by 2050.
Grupo Bimbo’s commitment extends beyond the environment. Under its For You initiative, 99% of its daily consumption products are free from artificial colors and flavors. Through its For Life priority, the company launched 267 “Good Neighbor” projects in 28 countries, benefiting more than 530,000 people.
