Da’Right’Taste Soul Food & Catering in Philadelphia serves authentic soul food cuisine that focuses on the traditional flavors and homemade dishes, reports Kathy Orr for FOX 29 Philadelphia.
The eatery is truly a family affair, with the owner, Shakeya Hicks, working with her daughter, cousin, and niece.
“I’ve been cooking for so long,” said Shakeya.
At first, she was only making dinners at her home, mostly for friends. Around 12 years ago, she finally committed to it fully and became licensed.
Located in North Philadelphia, the eatery has become so popular for catering that Da’Right’Taste does not offer daily food sales.
Instead, it launched “$20 Wednesday,” when customers can pick up one of the restaurant’s signature meals, normally priced between $25 and $30, at a discount. The restaurant also serves meals on Fridays.
The menu changes weekly and includes dishes ranging from cheesesteak pretzels and boneless short ribs to sweet potatoes and green beans, which are incredibly popular. Other dishes include a five-cheese baked macaroni & cheese, southern fried wings, pan-seared salmon, and seafood salad.
On the beverage side, Da’Right’Taste serves vibrant mocktails in crowd-pleasing flavors, such as mango and strawberry. There’s also a peach tea, which is a best-seller.
