BlackHen, the newest restaurant from Felicia Wilson, is the newest addition to Philadelphia's selection of fried chicken spots.

BlackHen, a new fried chicken restaurant and the latest food concept for Amina owner Felicia Wilson, has opened in Old City, writes Michael Tanenbaum for PhillyVoice.

Its location is just a few doors down from Amina.

At BlackHen, customers can expect a 40-seat BYOB that will offer table service and takeout. Menu highlights include chicken and waffles, sandwiches served on black charcoal rolls, candied sweet potato hash, Southern-inspired soul slaw, and fried Oreos.

Wilson has been a part of Philadelphia’s restaurant scene since 2022, when she opened Amina, the Southern restaurant with a Nigerian-inspired menu.

At the end of 2023, Wilson reveals plans to spinoff a second Amina location. This location, which will be located on the edge of University City, will be larger than the original and serve a seafood fusion menu and host jazz and blues performances.

BlackHen’s menu was created by Amina chef Darryl Harmon, who leans on family recipes for inspiration, and chef Issaka Fofana, who will lead the kitchen at BlackHen.
