A developer has an agreement of sale for a wooded property off State Road across from the Drexeline Shopping Center to potentially build homes and shops there, writes Pete Bannan for the Daily Times.
Greg Lingo, owner of Rockwell Development Group, appeared Monday before the Upper Darby Planning Commission with conceptual plans to build on property next to Collingbrook United Church between State Road and Township Line Road in Drexel Hill.
“We felt like we’ve brought a lot of jobs to the township as well as good quality redevelopment,” Lingo said. “We are continuing to look at things in that vein.”
Lingo said Rockwell was one of 15 making offers for the property, noting that if his company doesn’t develop it, someone else likely will.
The mixed-use proposal, which would require a zoning change, would have 69 conventional town homes, 42 interlocking town homes, and planning for 40 apartments above businesses.
The development would have its own parking and shopping, with the entrance directly across from the Drexeline ShopRite. A pocket park and a nature trail would also be included.
Lingo said that at this stage, he is seeking feedback before proceeding with the plan.
