Yards Brewing Co., which has been a staple in Philadelphia for over 30 years, is partnering with two other breweries to increase its production, writes Erin McCarthy for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Yards will be partnering with Pennsylvania-based Bald Birds and Connecticut-based Two Roads, respectively, for a new manufacturing collaboration called B3 Beverage Co.
The partnership will allow Yards to expand on its contract-brewing efforts, which began when the brewery moved into its Spring Garden location in 2018.
Currently, Yards produces 25,000 barrels of beer, and brews and packages 30,000 barrels for other brands.
Yards founder and president Tom Kehoe said he hopes to increase its contract-brewing output by about 10 percent in the first year of the collaboration.
“We will continue to do what we are doing best at the same quality level — but now have more resources,” Kehoe said in a statement. “In fact we can expand through this partnership to now go beyond beer, cider, and seltzer to include RTDs.”
For Kehoe, he believes it makes more sense to partner up with other breweries and build more of a ‘super’ beverage company rather than just competitors.
