Yards Brewing Company, the Spring Garden brewery, celebrates 30 years this year, writes Zach Ciavolella for Metro Philadelphia.
To celebrate its latest milestone anniversary, Yards Brewing Company will host an evening of beer, memories, and 1990s nostalgia on Friday, November 1. The event will feature several key figures from Yards’ history.
Among those who will make appearances include Fergus “Fergie” Carey of Fergie’s Pub and Tom Peters of Monk’s Cafe. They are two of the most influential figures of Philadelphia’s craft beer scene.
In addition, Yards Brewing Company founder Tom Kehoe will also be honored in a special ceremony recognizing his contributions to Philly’s brewing history.
Yards was founded by college friends Kehoe and Jon Bovit, starting out as a humble, garage-sized operation in 1994. It has since grown to become of one Philly’s go-to sources for craft beer and cornerstone in the local brewing scene.
“Our beers have always been crafted by the people of this city, for the people of this city. There’s no place we’d rather call home,” said Kehoe.
The free, 30th anniversary celebration event will take place from 6 PM to 11 PM.
