The Wells Fargo Center, which has been the longtime home of the Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia Flyers, will soon undergo a name change, writes the 6abc Digital Staff.
Effective on September 1, the Wells Fargo Center will be renamed that Xfinity Mobile Arena. The following day, new signage will be unveiled along with other branding and digital displays.
This is all part of a new agreement between Comcast Spectacor and Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment. Other details of the agreement include official partnerships with the two local major sports teams, signage in the exterior, interior digital branding, and Xfinity Mobile-branded Wi-Fi.
“Philadelphia is home to the most passionate fans in the country, and that competitive spirit is a perfect complement to the Xfinity Mobile brand,” said Steve Croney, chief operating officer of connectivity and platforms at Comcast.
The new naming rights deal is set to run through the 2030-31 season as a new venue will be replacing the Wells Fargo Center by 2031.
This newest name change to Xfinity Mobile Arena will mark the fifth name for the arena since it first opened its doors in 1996.
