Limo Driver’s Life Changed by Chance Encounter With Eagle Brian Dawkins

A chance encounter with Brian Dawkins was a life-changing event for Ashley Shumba.

Limo driver Ashley Shumba had a life-changing experience after Philadelphia Eagles legend Brian Dawkins became his passenger in June 2022 at Philadelphia International Airport, writes Dawn Timmeney for Fox 29 Philadelphia.

Shumba, an African immigrant, had no idea who Dawkins was, but the former Eagles safety was so intrigued by Shumba’s life story that he had him pull the limo over so he could listen to him for an hour.

Ashley Shumba grew up poor in a Zimbabwe village with no running water and no electricity. Still, throughout his life, he met high-profile people who were touched by his good character, positivity, and faith.

“I don’t believe in coincidences. I believe in divine opportunities. Time and time again, he’d run into this person who just happened to have the answer to get this passport or this opportunity,” Dawkins said.

The former Eagle suggested Shumba write a book.

Thanks to another passenger, John Glomb, president and CEO of Philadelphia Insurance Companies, Shumba had a book sponsor; Dawkins found him a publisher.

Three years later, Ashely Shumba is an author.

“This is beautiful America. Dreams come true in America. Only in America,” Shumba said.
