Taras Zvir has only been driving for Uber since last year, but recently, he experienced something that he couldn’t have imagined or prepared for, writes TaRhonda Thomas for 6abc.
One day recently, he picked up 41-year-old passenger Justin Anderson after he had ordered a ride to his new job. However, upon his arrival, Anderson suffered a sudden medical emergency.
Zvir noticed Anderson started sweating profusely. Unbeknownst to them, Anderson was experiencing a brain hemorrhage.
Using his quick thinking, Zvir immediately called 911 and began receiving instructions from the operator on how to conduct some life-saving measures.
“I opened the door, took him out of the car, and laid him flat on the ground. I just started doing CPR,” he said.
About 6-8 minutes later, parademics started to make their way to the scene and then rushed Anderson to the hospital.
Anderson then had emergency surgery. While he is recovering, he remains unconscious several days later.
Nonetheless, Anderson and his mother are grateful to Zvir for being there to help him and most likely save his life.
His family has since set up a GoFundMe to help Anderson pay for medical expenses.
