Amidst an offseason where the Philadelphia Eagles have seen a number of roster changes, another is set to take place.
The Super Bowl champion Eagles recently announced that the team is moving on from its longtime pep band after 28 years in partnership, writes Barry Warner for Touchdown Wire.
That pep band was responsible for making the “Fly Eagles Fly” chant popular, permeating throughout the stadium during home games before each game and after every score.
While the change is a big one, the Eagles Pep Band founder has no hard feelings.
“We’re not bitter,” said Bobby Mansure. “It’s been glorious. Super Bowls and being on the field and meeting families and players and friends. We walk away with a smile on our face.”
While the pep band made its name through the Eagles, their impact has been felt far beyond the gridiron.
The band has performed at a number of gatherings throughout Philadelphia over the years, including more than 500 wedding receptions.
The Eagles have mentioned their desire to evolve their in-game experience. Parting ways with the pep bands seems to be a part of that desire.
It remains to be seen just different that experience will be come next season.
