The inaugural Wealthy 1000 rankings has been released and the Philadelphia area is well-represented with 40 entries.
Four Philadelphia ZIP codes are among the wealthiest in the United States, write Joanne Drilling and Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The four Philadelphia ZIP codes that ranked highest in the region are all Center City or Center City-adjacent neighborhoods, three of which made the nation’s top 50.
Ranking at No. 24 is 19103, an area that encompasses Rittenhouse, Logan, and Fitler squares in Center City West.
At No. 43 is 19147, a ZIP code that is largely made up of the Queen Village, Bella Vista, and Passyunk Square neighborhoods.
The 19106 ZIP code in Old City ranked No. 50 overall.
Just outside the top 100 at No. 102 is ZIP code 19130 in Fairmount.
The 19118 ZIP code in Chestnut Hill ranked at No. 432.
Rounding out the top 1000 list is the 19127 ZIP code in Manayunk, which ranks at No. 537.
The Wealthy 1000 ranking is based on a weighted formula that looks at wealth indicators such as income, home value, and population density.
