Upon founding local nonprofit, Sisterhood in Success, Rachel Caesar had a clear and concise vision.
Her goal was to create a space where women felt safe and empowered, in which she could help support them in their profession and personal journeys, writes Racquel Williams for KYW Newsradio.
“It came out of my desire to want to work in an environment that really acknowledged Black women,” she said about launching the nonprofit. “I have 20 years of working in professional spaces, and I’ve always felt like that was a need.”
Through the nonprofit, she and her team helps address the many challenges women — especially Black women — often face in the workplace. These issues include microaggressions, misogyny, discrimination, and more.
While many women who face these issues tend to hide or try to blend in, Caesar wants them to instead use their voice and not to settle.
Caesar has also launched a mentorship initiative that pairs Black women with experienced professionals who can provide guidance and support to these women, helping them feel more emboldened to become their own advocates.
She wants to be a voice for those who may feel voiceless and promote further strength and wisdom amongst fellow Black women.
