Doug, an 85-year-old Bucks County resident, has captured the internet’s attention and touched countless hearts with his handwritten and hand-delivered party invitations, writes Jo Ciavaglia for the Bucks County Courier Times.
Doug is throwing a “Celebration of Winter” party for his neighbors this month. A video one of the recipients of his invitation, Michelle Hernandez, posted on her TikTok shows Doug delivering the invite.
“Hi I’m Doug, across the street here,” he said with a smile. “I live in that house over there. This is an invitation to a party I’m having February 15. I didn’t want to leave it in the mailbox.”
The invitation stated that the party starts at 4 PM and will continue “until the cops arrive.”
The video has since gone viral and received over 150,000 likes on TikTok, and has been making rounds on other social media as well. Would-be party crashers are offering to bring food, beverages, and anything else a good party needs, while Lochel’s Bakery in Hatboro volunteered to donate a special cake.
Many commenters are asking Hernandez for updates on the party.
Doug took his newfound celebrity in stride, and “asked when he should call Hollywood,” joked Hernandez.
