Pottstown’s Loren Gray is redefining the influencer world, writes Elizabeth Macbride for Forbes.
At 22 years old, she boasts 90 million followers across TikTok and Instagram, earning over $1 million annually. Her role in Netflix’s Incoming, which climbed the platform’s charts last summer, showcases her expanding reach beyond social media.
Gray balances her online persona with real-world ambitions. Currently pursuing an accounting degree in Los Angeles, she also advocates for mental health awareness, emphasizing kindness and inclusion.
“Everyone deserves to feel loved and included,” she said at the International Web Summit on 2018.
She began her influencer career at just 12 years old, building on authenticity. Gray has partnerships with State Farm, Revlon, and Target, but has turned down other lucrative deals that conflict with her values.
Grayt acknowledges the challenges of her profession, including the relentless content creation required to maintain her brand. Her ability to adapt in both the Instagram and TikTok spheres positions her to pivot against any potential platform bans.
Despite criticism of social media’s impact on mental health, Loren Gray remains steadfast. She’s openly shared personal struggles, including a traumatic experience at 13, to inspire her fans she calls ‘angels’. Being vulnerable has helped her foster a community of support, highlighting the responsibility she feels as an influencer.
