PA State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta Announces Bid for DNC Vice Chair Role

State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, who represents the 181st District, has thrown his name in the race to become the next DNC vice chair.

Malcolm Kenyatta, Pennsylvania State Representative and North Philadelphia native, recently announced that he is running to become a Democratic National Committee vice chair in the 2025 election, writes Evelyn Blower for The Temple News.

He will officially be up for election on February 1 in National Harbor, Maryland. The DNC vice chair role is one of several top roles in the committee. This includes the election of a new DNC chair, as the current chair Jamie Harrison of South Carolina is not seeking reelection.

On Kenyatta’s website, his coalition building skills and relationships with legislators, labor, and community leaders are emphasized.

Malcolm Kenyatta is no stranger to the political scene.

This past November, he narrowly lost the Pennsylvania Auditor General election to incumbent Timothy DeFoor. In 2022, he lost to U.S. Sen. John Fetterman in the Democratic primary for a U.S. Senate seat.

Kenyatta, however, has served as Pennsylvania State Rep. for the 181st District since 2019.

He will seek his DNC vice chair election from 448 DNC voting members.
