‘Kenyatta: Do Not Wait Your Turn’ Documentary Highlighting Pa. State Representative Now Available on Tubi

"Kenyatta: Do Not Wait Your Turn," a feature-length documentary that follows Pennsylvania State Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta’s quest to become the first openly gay person of color in the U.S. Senate is now out on Tubi.

“Kenyatta: Do Not Wait Your Turn” is now available to watch on Tubi.

The feature-length documentary follows Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta’s quest to become the first openly gay person of color in the U.S. Senate. For the upcoming November election, Kenyatta is the Democratic nominee for Pennsylvania auditor general.

In the film, Kenyatta, a self-described “poor, Black, and gay kid from North Philly,” explores the question of what it means to be electable in America as he takes on a formidable political opponent. Filmmaker Lee Daniels, actress Tichina Arnold, MSNBC anchor Joy Reid, journalists from Politico and The Philadelphia Inquirer, and an array of Pennsylvania voters were also
featured in the documentary.

“I’ve known Rep. Kenyatta for over a decade, going back to our time as students at Temple University in North Philly,” said producer/director Timothy Harris of Seven Knots Film & Media. “Malcolm Kenyatta was so gracious to allow our team full access to capture history in the making as he fought against incredible headwinds. We’re excited the film is now available on Tubi and are confident Malcolm’s passion and willpower will inspire future leaders from marginalized communities for generations to come.”

This is the first feature-length documentary from Xpedition’s Doc Fund slate with two more films planned to release later this year. The program was created to ensure diverse and timely stories were produced as too often, great stories with hard truths struggle to find the means of being made. “At Xpedition, we strive to tell the stories of those who fight injustice and intolerance in the world,” said Founder & CEO Hunter Johnson. “As an LGBTQ+ run company, we believe that it is essential to democracy that our elected officials represent us in all aspects of life, be it in their sexuality, race, or economic status.”
