The Vaughan McLean litigation boutique has partnered with a team that is led by Richard Cohen, the founder of Goldberg Segalla, to create Cohen Vaughan, a new law firm headquartered in Center City, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Cohen Vaughan has 75 lawyers in 18 locations spread across seven states. The firm includes nine founding partners, seven of them equity partners, and a total of 45 partners.
The firm’s practice focuses strongly on defending commercial litigation and workers’ compensation defense, including construction and crane litigation. They also cover employment counseling and litigation, commercial and business litigation, product liability, and retail and hospitality.
As a part of its merger with the Cohen group, Vaughan McLean has also brought Philadelphia litigation firm Deasey Mahoney & Valentini on board. The firm’s founder, Frank Deasey, played a key role in coordinating the joint defense for the litigation arising from the 1991 One Meridian Plaza fire.
“This partnership offers the scale and breadth of services that our large national insurance and self-insured clients increasingly want, along with a bigger platform for our exceptional trial attorneys to grow their practices,” said Deasey.
