Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia was recently selected as one of 12 stadiums across the United States to host next year’s expanded FIFA Club World Cup, writes Drew Hansen for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The international soccer competition pits top club teams from across the globe against each other.
The FIFA Club World Cup will be a 32-team tournament held from June 15 to July 13, 2025. Among the teams that will be participating include Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Bayern Munich.
The tournament final will be hosted at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
The 2025 games will be great preparation for Philadelphia as it will also host the much larger 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Philadelphia will be hosting six matches for the 2026 World Cup, all of which will also be played at Lincoln Financial Field.
