Fine Wine & Good Spirits recently signed a lease to open a new store in University City, writes Michael Tanenbaum for PhillyVoice.
The store will open on the ground floor of a soon-to-be-completed, 7,000-square-foot, 14-story lab and office tower structure that is part of the wider Schuylkill Yards development around Drexel University campus and 30th Street Station.
The lease was negotiated between the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, which operates the state-run stores, and the investment management company, Colliers.
The Schuylkill Yards partnership between Drexel and Brandywine Realty Trust is a $3.5 billion development covering 14 acres in University City. There are currently four buildings in various stages of construction, which include a mix of office, residential, and retail spaces. There will also be 6 1/2 acres of public green space.
The new Fine Wine & Good Spirits store will be one of three businesses on the ground floor of the office and lab building.
While the structure is expected to be finished by the end of the year, the opening date of the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store has not yet been set.
