A new vintage clothing and retail shop, DRATS, recently opened its doors on the Norris Square/Kensington border.
For owner Jason Carroll, it was important to create a carefully curated vintage retail experience for all customers.
The collection at DRATS features meticulously hand-selected garments with both iconic and obscure brands from the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
“DRATS has become an exciting first for me,” said Carroll.
After spending several years as STARR creative director, he had to start contemplating what was next. It was critical to launch a project where he could have full creative control from the top down.
The vision for DRATS began with extensive shopping trips across the East Coast, where Carroll crafted a collection of more than 800 items of mostly vintage clothing.
As a 15-year resident of the Norris Square/Kensington community, he came to the conclusion that the community was missing a business like this.
“My hope is that this new storefront will fill a gap while also generating continued positive momentum for North Front Street,” Carroll said.
DRATS strives to be affordable and shoppable for just about all budgets, with prices ranging from $20 to $300, with most items facing in the $35 to $50 range.
Check out DRATS in-person at 2214 North Front Street or on Instagram.
