The Philadelphia Phillies are in first place in the MLB with a 62-34 record and are also near the top of the league in terms of attendance, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Phillies have already reached two million total attendees for the season as it heads toward the MLB All-Star break.
The team ranks third in league attendance with an average of 40,982 fans per game, according to ESPN.com. Its average for its 50 home games up to this point in the season is roughly 95 percent capacity of Citizen Bank Park’s 42,901 seats.
The Phillies are pacing 7 percent ahead of last season’s total, when the team ranked sixth among the 30 MLB teams at an average of 38,157 fans per game.
John Weber, the Phillies’ senior vice president of ticket operations, credited the growth in attendance this season to the team’s loyal fans, a fast start, and the attraction of its stars and “feel good” stories of its homegrown players, such as Alec Bohm, Aaron Nola, and Ranger Suarez.
“We were able build off the 2022 and 2023 success of the team,” Weber said.
Weber said the Phillies have already sold out 27 games this season, one more than all of last season.
