Bucks County Introduces Mobile Career Services with Workforce on Wheels Bus

Bucks County is revolutionizing career development with its new Workforce on Wheels (WOW) bus, which provides mobile access to essential employment resources, writes Emily Neil for WHYY.

The WOW bus mirrors the services of the PA CareerLink employment center in Trevose, offering job seekers assistance with resume writing, interview skills, and more.

The WOW bus, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, is equipped with 12 seats, a TV screen, laptops, and chargers. It aims to address transportation barriers faced by residents in the northern and northwestern parts of the county.

Billie Barnes, the program’s Executive Director of the Bucks County Office of Workforce and Economic Development, drew inspiration from a similar initiative she witnessed in Washington, D.C.

The WOW bus, the first of its kind in Pennsylvania, is expected to inspire other counties.

A soft launch is planned at the Bucks County PA CareerLink office on June 13, with an official county-wide launch in September.
