Andrew Greenblatt, CEO and executive director of Philadelphia Film Society, has been hired to lead a vision at Philadelphia-based media company Alkemy X, writes Emma Dooling for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Greenblatt will lead the Independent Film Services division at Alkemy X. The division focuses on providing the company’s services to movies produced outside of major studio systems.
“This is just another extension of our dedication to the studio, to the craft and to the city,” Alkemy X CEO Justin Wineburgh said.
Alkemy X was founded in 1981, and works on television and film projects at various stages of the creation process, including providing services for aspects like visual effects, sound, and editing.
The new Independent Film Services division will allow Alkemy X to grow its staff and bring younger employees onto projects to earn more experience in the industry. Wineburgh noted that the company could add as many as 25 new people to its staff in order to accommodate the increase in business.
Greenblatt will maintain his role as the lead executive of the Philadelphia Film Society while working with Alkemy X. He noted that the new division will aim to show filmmakers that Alkemy X’s services are accessible to them.
