In the role, Zimmerman will head Comcast’s $10 billion business services unit and be a key cog in driving continued long-term growth and strategic innovation.
The unit provides a suite of technology services, including cybersecurity, internet, TV plans and other products to businesses.
Zimmermann will be taking over as president for Bill Stemper, who had filled the lead executive role since Comcast Business was first launched in 2006.
Zimmermann has more than 20 years of experience at Comcast, filling various roles. In addition to CFO and head of strategy, his prior roles also include senior vice president of finance and administration for Comcast’s Northeast Division and Beltway Division, respectively.
“Ed is an outstanding executive with a track record of building strong teams, driving transformation, and achieving results … and is well respected by the management team,” said David Watson, President and CEO of Comcast Cable.
Zimmermann is a two-time graduate of Temple University, where he earned a bachelor’s in business and an MBA in finance and strategy.
