122-Year-Old ‘Ravenscliff’ Mansion in Wayne Lists For Millions

A Wayne mansion called Ravenscliff, once owned by Campbell's Soup heiress, is on the market for nearly $12 million.

In Wayne, a 122-year-old mansion deemed Ravenscliff is on the market for $11.875 million. With only two previous owners, who will be the third to grace the halls of this expansive property? Jonathan Diamond has the details at the Philadelphia Business Journal.

It was originally built on a 126 acres in 1904 for railroad magnate William T. Wright, who later gifted it to his son William Coxe Wright in 1934 when he married Campbell’s Soup heiress Charlotte Dorrance.

After Dorrance’s death in 1979, the land and household items were auctioned, and the mansion was left on the remaining nine acres.

Ravenscliff boasts three stories with seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, with elevator access available on all levels including the basement.

Parts of the first floor are encased in marble floors and walls, while other rooms like the library are set with mahogany paneling. Details include fireplaces, hand-carved doors, high windows to match high ceilings, and bright lighting. One of the most recent updates to the home is the kitchen, which stands out in a wash of white and modernity.

Each room appears to have its own theme and colors.

Outside, tall trees surround the exterior with manicured green lawns. There is a pool and pool house, equipped with outdoor cooking and a space for changing. Additionally, there is a large four-car garage with courtyard parking spaces available for guests.

“It’s going to attract people who are familiar with that type of property from around here,” said Lisa Yakulis of Kurfiss Sotheby’s International Realty, and that “it’s also attracting people from other places who are looking for something that represents what’s authentic to this area, that represents some of the iconic history of the area.”
