Located in South Philadelphia, Mike’s BBQ is a true hidden gem where the meat is smoked a traditional way in a Lang Smoker, that lures in patrons with its enticing scent, reports Bob Kelly for FOX 29.
“We opened in January 2016 and strive our best to produce top quality food every day,” said Jimmy Gleason, pit master at Mike’s BBQ.
In keeping with the restaurant’s old-school style, the menu is presented on butcher paper along a description for customers to view.
Mike’s BBQ is best known for its tender ribs, smoky brisket, and flavorful cheesesteak, with its cornbread long praised as a customer favorite.
Other equally delicious offerings include pulled pork, Lancaster chicken wings, and smoked chili. Everything is smoked fresh the same day to ensure the highest quality, and even the pickles are made in-house. Mike’s BBQ also offers an array of sauces, including a mild one, pepper vinaigrette, and a sweet & spicy sauce.
There is also a catering option available for special events.
The eatery has been recognized by The Philadelphia Inquirer Best in Philly award for the past two years.
