One of Nation’s Largest Search Firms Acquires Philadelphia-Based Howard Fischer Associates

Philadelphia executive search firm Howard Fischer Associates has been acquired by ZRG.

Howard Fischer Associates, a Philadelphia executive search firm, has been acquired by executive search firm giant ZRG, writes Jeff Blumenthal for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

According to founder and CEO Howard Fischer, while he wasn’t necessarily looking to sell, when taking into account his business plan for the future, the firm saw a need to expand nationally and internationally.

The acquisition will allow the firm to keep pace with the increased amount of local clients it has.

Founded in 1977, Howard Fischer Associates focuses on searches at vice president level roles and above.

Its clients range from public and privately owned businesses to Fortune 100 companies, as well as private equity- and venture-backed organizations. Meanwhile, the sectors include media, technology, telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, consumer products, and consumer services.

Fischer is now joining ZRG as managing director on a two-year contract with the firm. The move includes at least nine other employees.

ZRG is one of the nation’s largest executive search firms in the nation, ranking seventh in Hunt Scanlon’s list for 2025. It produces about $219 million in annual revenue with 145 consultants and over 24 offices nationally.

The firm’s strength in areas like higher education and healthcare allows Howard Fischer Associates to add to its own repertoire.

The two firms will complement each other.
