According to Bensalem Mayor Joe DiGirolamo, the redevelopment of Neshaminy Mall is making headway, with major changes planned for the property, writes Lacey Latch for the Bucks County Courier Times.
The 91-acre property, with over 1 million square feet of retail space, was purchased for $27.5 million in the summer of 2024 by Paramount Realty and Edgewood Properties. Only a few retailers remain inside.
According to DiGirolamo, developers will likely be tearing down much of the current structure, leaving the successful anchor stores like Barnes & Noble and Boscov’s, along with the movie theater.
Other retailers like Whole Foods and Walmart may also be added to the site.
Talks of transforming the space to include a mix of residential and commercial developments are also underway. Townhomes and apartments are currently being considered.
DiGirolamo recommended incorporating age-restricted units to help reduce the potential impact on the school district.
He also said plans will likely include an interior walking area for shoppers, visitors, and residents.
“It is conceptual at this point,” DiGirolamo said. “But it was a good start.”
“It’s certainly an attraction to come here. Not just Bensalem, but a regional place where people can come and shop,” he said. “And I think that’s what we’re shooting for and I think that’s going to happen if it’s mixed-use like we’re talking about.”
