Philadelphia’s Bar Scene Continues to Grow, Here Are Some of Best New Additions

While you probably already have a favorite drinking spot, there are many new bars opening in Philadelphia that can give older, established places a run for their money as they vie for your attention, write Hannah Albertine and Maddy Sweitzer-Lammé for the Philadelphia Magazine.

One of the best new additions is Poison Heart in Spring Garden, which opened earlier this month. Located in a small storefront, it offers an amazing freezer martini, among many other drinks. There is also a small food menu that boasts oysters by the half-dozen and a patty melt.

Post Haste in Kensington joined the Philadelphia bar scene in June. The spot sources everything on the menu from East of the Mississippi River.

In addition, it offers mostly classic drinks reworked with local-ish ingredients, including the pear-nicillian, a pear-based version of the classic Scotch cocktail.

In April, Next of Kin opened its doors as a cocktail bar in Fishtown, and immediately became a local favorite. The menu has many pages of classic cocktails made in lovely glassware and with fancy ice that is transparent and both look gorgeous and melt more slowly.
