Philadelphia’s Department of Planning and Development has been in search of a new, permanent intercity bus terminal site as it also works on temporarily reopening the city’s old Greyhound station on Filbert Street.
After an ongoing search and review of more than 280 locations, the search has now been narrowed down to three options, writes Meir Rinde for Billy Penn at WHYY.
The three options for the new “world-class travel hub,” as the department is calling it, are:
- Two parking lots next to the African American Museum in Philadelphia at 701-709 and 721-737 Arch Streets, respectively.
- The Philadelphia Gateway garage and an parking lot at 1500-1598 Vine Street.
- A parking lot just north of 30th Street Station and adjacent to the Cira Centre officer tower, located at 2931 Arch Street.
On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the department will hold a meeting to obtain public input on the three locations.
The department has also launched an online survey so the public can share their input on the matter. Responses must be submitted by March 13.
A second meeting is scheduled to take place later in the year, after which a report with recommendations will be published.
