Three years after being shuttered, the Greyhound bus terminal at 10th and Filbert streets in Center City, is set to reopen for the 2026 celebration for America’s birthday, writes Hayden Mitman for NBC10 Philadelphia.
The City of Philadelphia is partnering with the Philadelphia Parking Authority to reopen and revitalize the Center City bus terminal.
“Our goal is to create an attractive new ‘neighborhood friendly’ state of the art intercity transportation facility — that is clean, safe, and well maintained,” said PPA executive director Rich Lazer in a statement.
The former bus terminal was shuttered more than two years ago in anticipation of the new Philadelphia 76ers arena in Center City that ultimately never materialized.
Since then, residents and visitors who rely on those busses have seen stops moved to various different locations across the city.
Lazer spoke glowingly about the new terminal, stating that it will offer an affordable way for riders to travel to Center City and beyond.
“This new intercity transportation bus hub will be a key ingredient in the revitalization of nearby blocks and businesses — that will provide an affordable and welcoming intercity transit option for quick trips to center city, the Pennsylvania Convention Center, the Fashion and Historic Districts, Reading Terminal Market, and Chinatown,” he added.
