Inside Honeysuckle: The Michelin-Recognized North Philly Restaurant Serving a $65 Gold-Flaked McDonald’s Burger

Honeysuckle's McDonald's Money Burger is a popular menu item and features a 24-carat gold flake on top.

During last month’s Michelin Guide Northeast Cities ceremony in Philadelphia, Honeysuckle was one of several local restaurants to earn honors.

Just recently opening at its new location at Broad and Spring Garden streets in North Philadelphia, Honeysuckle highlights and celebrates Black food and Black culture, Alex Holley and Thomas Drayton learned at FOX 29.

One unique menu highlight that can be found at Honeysuckle is the McDonald’s Money Burger.

This distinctive burger includes two all-beef patties, caramelized malt-vinegar onions, Cooper Sharp cheese, remoulade made with caviar, and shaved truffle, and two slices of white bread.

The burger is then topped with edible, 24 karat gold flakes.

“We always knew that we wanted to highlight that moment,” said Omar Tate, co-founder and co-owner of Honeysuckle.

The moment he is referencing when children may ask their parents if they can have McDonald’s, and the parent responds with: “We have McDonald’s at home.”

This burger epitomizes the concept of “having McDonald’s at home.”

The McDonald’s Money Burger is $65.

As an artist, Tate also serves the burger with fries that come in a red box reminiscent of McDonald’s.
