The U.S. News & World Report’s 2026 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list includes one from Delaware County, writes John George for Philadelphia Business Journal.
Riddle Hospital in Media once again made the list, after appearing on it last year. It ranked among 495 hospitals nationwide and among 13 in the Philadelphia region.
A record-breaking 901 hospitals nationwide provided maternity data for U.S. News evaluation. From those, 495 were recognized as offering “high quality” maternity care.
The rankings looked at C-section rates, newborn complications, and birthing practices.
Other suburban medical centers that made it back onto the list included Paoli Hospital, Jefferson Abington Health, and Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in East Norriton.
Riddle and Paoli hospitals are both part of Main Line Health.
The report indicated that Riddle always offers childbirth classes, has private rooms, offers immersive Tub Hydrotherapy during labor, allows partners to stay overnight after delivery, and permits midwives to attend the births.
It also offers in-hospital breastfeeding and lactation consultants before and/or after discharge.
The ratings assist expectant parents in making informed decisions about where to receive maternity care for uncomplicated births.
