Since it was founded in 2018, Philadelphia-based activewear brand Addison Bay has evolved exponentially and recently launched its first-ever maternity line, writes Laura Brzyski for Philadelphia Magazine.
As a mother of four, founder Marguerite Adzick has first-hand knowledge of the kind of maternity clothes that are already out there.
Addison Bay’s new maternity line features the brand’s signature Everyday Leggings, AB Soft Leggings, Panama Dress, and Flounce Skort — all made with moms-to-be in mind to accommodate their growing bodies.
Over the years, Addison Bay has gone from a private label to opening boutiques in Avalon and Ardmore, and even created a kids’ line.
However, according to Adzick, adding a maternity section felt like a natural progression for the company. She grew frustrated with not being able to find maternity clothes that were functional, fashionable, and versatile throughout pregnancy and beyond.
“I felt like we were missing a big part of our customer’s life during pregnancy and I wanted to extend the brand to dress her during this pivotal time in her life,” said Adzick.
“Our mission is to be able to provide elevated activewear that can take busy, on-the-go women from 7 AM to 7 PM,” she added.
